Tampa Bay Classic Race Announces Its Inaugural 2027 Edition

A new major racing pigeon event is coming to Florida.

The Tampa Bay Classic Race (TBCR) has officially announced its first edition for 2027, introducing a new competition designed to bring together breeders, handlers, and racing pigeon enthusiasts for a high-level sporting event centered in the Tampa Bay area.

Built around the principles of speed, strength, and competition, the Tampa Bay Classic Race will culminate in a challenging 350-mile final race, where participating pigeons will compete for substantial prizes and recognition.

More Than $380,000 in Projected Prizes

Based on 1,600 paid pigeons, the 2027 Tampa Bay Classic Race is projected to distribute more than $380,000 in prizes.

The event will reward 100 positions, providing opportunities for competitors throughout the final standings.

The projected payout structure includes:

1st Place — $100,000
Breeder: $80,000
Handler: $20,000

2nd Place — $50,000
Breeder: $35,000
Handler: $15,000

3rd Place — $20,000
Breeder: $10,000
Handler: $10,000

4th Place — $12,000
Breeder: $6,000
Handler: $6,000

5th Place — $6,000
Breeder: $3,000
Handler: $3,000

6th through 100th Place — $2,000 each
Breeder: $1,000
Handler: $1,000

Entry Options

Participants will have two primary entry options:

1 Bird — $300
4 Birds — $1,000

The official entry period is scheduled from February 1 through June 30, 2027, including replacements during the established entry period.

The Final Race

The Tampa Bay Classic Race final is scheduled for the second Sunday of December 2027.

The final distance will be approximately 350 miles, creating a demanding competition where health, preparation, genetics, conditioning, and race-day performance will all play a critical role.

TBCR Official Auction

As part of the Tampa Bay Classic Race project, TBCR will also introduce its Official Auction, creating an additional opportunity for breeders and competitors to showcase quality racing pigeons and bloodlines connected to the event.
